THE PRACTICE OF HIS PRESENCE Part 7

““Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name
Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Matt.1:23
God is righteous. The opposite of righteous is unrighteous. “For God is not unrighteous
to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye
have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” Heb 6:10. Some Bible versions use the
word unjust in place of unrighteous. Last week we understood that love does not keep
record of the wrong done to it. Put another way, love keeps record of the good done to
it. From the above scripture we can infer that it is unrighteous or unjust to forget the
good that you have received from God and people. Keeping record of the good you have
received will enable you to be grateful. We are often tempted to focus on the things we
think God has not done and forget the things He has done. It is impossible to have
fellowship with God with that kind of ungrateful attitude. The children of Israel who left
Israel and marched towards the promised land experienced many miracles including
deliverance from Egypt, the parting of the red sea, the provision of manna and water in
the wildness, divine health and protection. However, each time they faced a need they
quickly forgot what God has done in the past and began to complain and grumble.
Hence God told Moses that His presence will not go with them because they were a
stiff-necked people. “Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in
your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.” Exodus
33:3. God keeps record of every thing we do for Him and His name. Hence, we will all be
rewarded according to our work. “God “will repay each person according to what they
have done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality,
he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and
follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.” Romans 2:6-8. He is a grateful God despite the
fact that He is our source.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK.
Being grateful to God, draws you closer to Him and strengthens your faith in Him. One of the
proven ways of getting your mountains to move is praising God for the things He has already
done for you.
