ENLARGE YOUR CAPACITY TO RECEIVE FROM GOD Part 11

“Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate Than the children of the married woman,” says the LORD. “Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited”. Isaiah 54:1-3

Spending time on the word of God will expand your capacity to receive from God. In Luke 5:1-6 we read of how Peter has toiled all night fishing and caught nothing. As he was washing his nets frustrated Jesus asked him to drive in his boat a little further in the lake so that he could preach to the multitude that was gathered. Peter obeyed and listened to the word that Jesus preached despite this not being convenient for him. After hearing the word his capacity to receive was enlarged. His faith was lifted above his frustration and what his professional knowledge was telling him. He could believe God for the impossible. The Bible said he caught so much fish that he needed help from others to carry the fish. “So, then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. Romans 10:17

Let us consider these two scriptures: “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people”. Matthew 4:23. “However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities”. Luke 5:15. Note that in Jesus’ ministry the teaching and preaching of the word of God preceded the miracles of healing and deliverance. The people came to hear the word of God first before receiving healing. If want to walk in the miraculous and grace of God you must give attention to the word of God. In Matt.5:6 Jesus promised that those who are hungry and thirsty for righteousness are blessed and will be filled. How hungry are you for His word or are you just interested in the miracles? The word of God will produce the faith required to receive from God.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“And my speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God”. 1Cor.2:4-5
