DO NOT FIGHT AGAINST THE WILL OF GOD

We all fell down, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is useless for you to fight against my will.’’  Acts 26:9

Fighting against the will of God in any area of your life is not beneficial, profitable or to your advantage.

On the other hand, submitting to the will of God is useful, beneficial, profitable and to your advantage. Understanding this truth should propel you to seek to know the will of God in every area of your life.

The first place to begin is immersing yourself in the word of God. The word of God is His will. The word of God is of inestimable treasure; To derive the benefits in the word of God you must approach it with a determination in your heart to obey every truth the Holy Spirit reveals to you in the scriptures irrespective of your cultural, social and religious background.

There are things the word of God does not specifically instruct you on what to do. For example, what house to buy or in what area of the city to buy the house, etc. In such situations you must depend on the Holy Spirit to guide you. You should cultivate the habit of asking him for guidance before taking decisions in your life; He will likely not guide you if not invited. When the Lord appeared to Moses in a burning bush, if Moses did not turn his attention towards the burning bush God would not have spoken to him at least at that time. When the disciples were struggling in the boat against the storm, Jesus came walking on the sea and would have passed them had they not cried for help even though He came to help them. “Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” Mark 6:48-50. As a child of God, the Holy Spirit indwells you as your helper but He will only help you when you turn your attention to Him and seek the help He offers. He will speak to you through your spirit. So always check with your spirit. If the leading is of the Holy Spirit there will be peace in your spirit (not necessarily your mind). “I will hear what God the LORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly.” Psalm 85:8. Once you confirm from your spirit the leading of the Lord be quick to follow through on it lest your mind talks you out of it because sometimes the will of God may not make human sense at least initially.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Real bible faith must be willing to look like a fool for a while. You cannot have real faith and fit/sync with the societal norm around you.
