RECEIVING FROM GOD

“You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.” Psalm 145:16
This weekend we will be having our yearly Divine encounter program with the theme
“THE HAND OF GOD”. In our text, Psalm 145:16 we understand that when God opens
His hands blessings or provisions are released to satisfy the need of man. I believe that
this is what God will do in this program this weekend.
It is one thing for God to open His hands and release blessings. It is also important that
we receive what God’s hand will release. Before the manifestation of Jesus, John the
Baptist was sent to prepare the hearts of the people to receive Him. “He will also go
before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the
children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared
for the Lord.” Luke 1:17. For you to be a beneficiary of what the hand of God will release
to us this weekend it is important that you prepare your heart to receive from Him.
The first area of preparation is to build an expectancy in your heart for what you desire
to receive from God’s hand. Notice in our text that God opens His hand to satisfy those
that are desiring something. “And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at
us.” So, he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. Then
Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Acts 3:4-6. One of the important things that
was key to this lame man receiving his healing was he was expectant that he will
receive something from Peter and John.
The second thing in preparing your heart to receive from God’s hand is to ask of the
Lord that which You are desiring. ““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find;
knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks
finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matt.7:7-8. “Until now you have asked
nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24. “You
desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you
quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.” James 4:2.
It is not enough to ask. Faith is important for you to receive. Access to every grace of
God is gained through faith. In Canada, the Canadian dollar is the currency with which
you purchase anything. In the Kingdom of God faith is the currency with which we
receive from God. “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we
stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:2.
“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea
driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything
from the Lord;” James 1:6-7
