ALL KINDS OF PRAYERS Part 3

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
Eph.6:18
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire,
and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7

We can summarise our two main texts this way. To be successful in prayer we must
first find out what the will of God is regarding the particular situation we are minded
to pray about. In most situations except in real emergencies, you may need a day or
longer searching through the scriptures to find the scriptural backing regarding your
desires in that particular need. This will also require meditating on those scriptures
long enough to allow faith to be built up in you before you start praying on it. “So,
then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Rom. 10:17. “But let him
ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and
tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the
Lord;” James 1:6-7
Secondly, we must dig deep into our spirit to know what kind of prayer will work in that
situation. Our spirit receives from the Holy Spirit what the right kind of prayer is and
then communicates it to our mind. It is therefore imperative that a Christian that is
successful in the place of prayer must be one who has trained his spirit to receive
from the Holy Spirit who is our guide and helper in all things including prayer. He
must also be one who has renewed his mind with the word of God so that it is
sensitive enough to perceive in his spirit what the Holy Spirit is communicating to his
spirit.
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he
shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he
will shew you things to come.” John 16:13. “Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our
weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit
Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Romans
8:26
