“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Gal.5:22-23.
Storms or afflictions, calamities, distress, adversities do occur to us all as long as we
live in this fallen world. Peace is not the absence of storms. You can enjoy peace amid
the storms of life. This kind of peace is given by Jesus. “I am leaving you with a
gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world
gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid” John 14:27 TLB.
When a person gets born again, he receives this fruit of the Spirit. ‘Therefore, since we
have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what
Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” Rom.5:1 NLT. This fruit is deposited in the
believer in seed form. It is up to the believer to water and nurture the seed to become
fully developed. He can do these through:
Practice turning your mind towards God all the time and in every
circumstance of life. This will include measuring the size of your mountains
against the size of God and not against your size. “You will keep him in perfect
peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3.
Love the Word of God. Peace flows from truth and not from fact. Facts are
subject to change because the things that are seen are temporal (2Cor.4:18).
The word of God is truth (John 17:17). “Great peace has those who love your law,
and nothing can make them stumble.” Psalm 119:165 NIV.
Practice casting your cares upon the Lord. ““Casting the whole of your care
[all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for
He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. 1 Peter
Guard your heart with all diligence and never allow any thought that is not in
alignment with the Word of God into your heart. “Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life.” Prov.4:23 NLT.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Prayer does not make faith work. It is faith that makes prayer work.
