THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD Part 7

“The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” Psalm 23:1(NLT)
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may
prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Rom.12:1-2
A renewed mind will know and understand the will of God concerning anything that
relates to him or her. This will of God is revealed by the Holy Spirit to your spirit which
then communicates it to your soul or mind. Your soul is renewed through the word of
God. “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with
meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” James 1:21. The word
save is the same as Sozo in Greek. It means saved, made whole, restore/renew, heal,
deliver or preserve. Through study, meditation, and practice of the word of God, our minds
can be renewed to think as God does. Through practicing the word of God we can train
our mind/soul to discern good (right or the leading of God) from evil (wrong leading).
“But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use
have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Heb.5:14 (NKJV). The New
International Version put it this way: “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant
use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” The Spirit and the Word
agree. “And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood;
and these three agree as one.” 1 John 5:8. The word of God is referred to as water in the
scripture. “that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,”
Eph.5:26. This implies that the leading from the Holy Spirit will always agree with the
word of God on that particular issue. God cannot contradict Himself and so cannot
lead you to do something that contradicts His word. When your mind is trained
through the word of God it can differentiate a leader that agrees with the word of God
from one that does not.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Whatever you keep before your eyes will eventually show up in your life. It worked in
sheep (Jacob and the speckled sheep: Genesis 30:37-39) it will work in your life.
