THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD Part 6

“The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” Psalm 23:1(NLT)
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may
prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Rom.12:1-2
The second thing you must do as a prerequisite to hearing from the Master and
knowing His will for your life after salvation is to do something with your mind. Your
mind has to be renewed. This is your responsibility and not God’s responsibility. It is
therefore more of a personal decision than a prayer point. We are instructed not to copy
this world’s way of doing things. This is because though you live in this world you are
not of this world. You belong to a different kingdom under a different king. “If you were
of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I
chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” John 15:19. “I have given
them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I
am not of the world.” John 17:14. The devil is the god of this world. “Satan, who is the
god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to
see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the
glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.” 2Cor.4:4 (NLT). But as a Christian God,
the Father is your God. You cannot please God and the world at the same time. Trying to
do that is spiritual adultery. You have to make a choice. “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do
you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants
to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4. To be carnally
minded is to be worldly-minded. A carnally-minded Christian cannot please God.
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor
indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Rom.8:7-8.
