YOU MUST FINISH WELL Part 2

“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I
might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord
Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24
One of the reasons that a person may not finish well is not running with purpose.
“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps
the law.” Prov.29:18. At the end of the race set before us there is a crown to be
received. “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I
have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith From now on
the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will
award to me in that day; but not only to me, but also to all those loving His appearing.”
2Tim.4:6-8. The road to the finish line is littered with tests and trials. When a Christian
is running his race without a purpose or vision he can easily by swept off course by
these tests and trials. A purpose driven Christian will not allow adversities to distract
him.
Apostle Paul was a man who ran his race with purpose and despite threats to his life he
boldly stated that none of these things moved him as was determined to finish his race
with joy. Jesus Christ set His face to go to Jerusalem even when He knew He will be
crucified there. He knew that His mission on earth was to lay down His life for you and
me. He was determined to fulfil it. “As the time approached for him to be taken up to
heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.” Luke 9:51.
