“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke
upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for
your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matt. 11:28-30
The third requirement to finding true rest is to keep learning of Him. We are called to be His
disciples. The Webster dictionary defines a true disciple as one who is not just a student or
learner but a follower: one who applies what he has learned. Learning without applying the
lessons learned to your daily life will not do you any good. Jesus is the source of true rest/peace
(Matt.11:28; John 14:27). A person cannot give what he does not have. It then means that Jesus
enjoyed unparalleled peace during His earthly ministry. When storm was threatening to capsize
the boat, he was in he was sleeping and unperturbed It is wisdom to learn from people that have
what you need. It is important to know that in serving in the vineyard, God is the owner of the
work. As the owner of the work, he is the one that called us just as He has called every one.
When we responded to that call He chose us. “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and
appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever
you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” John 15:16. As the owner of the work He
determines which area of the work you should serve for maximal result. ““Before I formed you in
the womb I knew you; Before you were born, I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the
nations.” Jere.1:5. “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and
called me through His grace,” Gal.1:15. The owner of the work also sets the rules or code of
conduct for those working with Him. It is this code of conduct that guided Jesus’ earthly
ministry which we are invited to learn of Him if we are to enjoy the rest that He gives.
