“I will pour out on the house of David and on the people of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace
(unmerited favor) and supplication. And they will look at Me whom they have pierced; and
they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over
Him as one who weeps bitterly over a firstborn.” Zech.12:10 AMP
The Holy Spirit is referred to as the Spirit of grace. Every good thing we have is from
God. “For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not
receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?”
1Cor.4:7. The Holy Spirit is a gift God has given to every of His children. “So you have not
received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he
adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” Rom.8:15 NLT So the
Holy Spirit is the grace of God.
What God has provided for His children through grace is beyond human
comprehension. “That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no
ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love
him.” 1Cor.2:9 NLT. The Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Grace is given to us to reveal
these things to us so that we will not only know them but enjoy them. “But it was to us
that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and
shows us God’s deep secrets.” 1Cor.2:10 NLT
The Spirit and the Word are one. “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The
words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63. “For there are three that
bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.”
1John 5:7. Therefore, if we want to be led by the Holy Spirit into what belongs to us in
Christ, we must follow God’s Word (study, meditate and practice the word of God).
Secondly, praying in the spirit (in tongues) enhances our spiritual perception. “For he
who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one
understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries…. He who speaks in a tongue
edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” 1Cor.14:2,4
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
If you are all wrapped in yourself you make a small package. The secret to living up to
what you were born for is to get out of yourself and let Christ live through you.
