THE PRACTICE OF HIS PRESENCE Part 4

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name
Immanuel,” which is translated, as “God with us.” Matt.1:23
With this background, we want to look at the conditions for a thriving
relationship/fellowship with God. “Can two walk together unless they are agreed?” Amos
3:3. The first condition is holiness or purity. “Because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
1Peter 1:16. We cannot live in sin and have fellowship with God. “If we say that we have
fellowship with Him, and walk-in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we
walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood
of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1John 1:6-7. There is no communion
between light and darkness. “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for
what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath
light with darkness?” 2Cor.6:14
If you must have a genuine fellowship with God you must truly repent and forsake sin in
your life.
The price you put on something determines what you are willing to give up in order to
get it. Jesus valued His relationship with the Father so much that throughout His ordeal
during his arrest, trial and crucifixion, the only thing that made Him cry was when that
fellowship was momentarily broken because the sins of the whole world were laid on
Him. “And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama
sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Matthew 27:46. We
ought to value our relationship with God so much that we will not tolerate anything or
anyone interfering with that relationship.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK
No one and nothing can upset you without your cooperation. Stop allowing things and what
people do or say interfere in your relationship and fellowship with your heavenly Father.
