THE PRACTICE OF HIS PRESENCE Part 2

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name
Immanuel,” which is translated, as “God with us.” Matt.1:23
A healthy and growing fellowship with God will lead to promotion in life and ministry.
“As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him.”
Acts 10:35.
Cornelius was a captain of the Roman soldiers at a time when the Jews were under
Roman rule. Yet the fellowship that Peter had with Jesus had so lifted him to such a
position that this Roman officer fell down at his feet and worshipped him. In 2Kings
13:14 we read of how intimacy with God lifted Elisha to such a position that the king of
Israel was calling him father. “Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would
die. Then Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, “O
my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and their horsemen!” 2Kings 13:14. Each time
Jesus called those that will later become His disciples He told them that if they follow Him He
will make them something in life. “Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you
fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19. If you want to become something in life grow in intimacy
with Jesus. There is a limit to how far money, career, academic achievements, or people
can lift you but there is no limit to how far intimacy with God can lift you. When man
promotes you, man can also bring you down but when God promotes you no power can
bring you down as long as you stay intimate with Him. God is the source of true
promotion. “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the
south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another”. Psalm 75:6-7.
You cannot be intimate with the source of true promotion and remain small.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs
13:20. The company you keep determines what accompanies you. You cannot keep
company with the source of true riches and victories and struggle through life.
