“Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are
unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God].” Prov.29:18

Spiritual grow demands that we lay aside some weights. These weights are like what
Jesus said in John 15 that a branch should be pruned so that it can be more fruitful.
“Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears
fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” John 15:2. Just as pruning a branch is
painful, laying aside weights can also be painful. However, the prize is worth the cost.
Today we will look at the second weight we should lay aside or avoid. “Some of the
materials here have been taken from Kenneth E Hagin’s mini book: Five Hinderances to
Growth in Grace” and the teaching of Nancy Dufresne on The Price of Double Portion
Anointing.
Avoid Looseness. Looseness can be defined as being without order, negligent,
careless, unchaste or unrestrained in behavior, speech and thought life.
Looseness can show up in one’s thoughts, habits and in life. Sin begins by being
loose in our thought life. Before yielding to sin, you touched it in your thought life.
You must discipline your thought life. You cannot keep wrong thought from
coming but you need skill in recognizing wrong thought and forbidding it from
staying. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there
be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things”. Phil.4:8. Be
disciplined in how you speak to others and how you speak about others. Poor
thought habit will rob you of success. Wrong thoughts are from the Devil. When
wrong thoughts come rebuke the spirit behind the wrong thoughts, switch
channel to thinking the right things like meditating on the word of God or singing
praises to God. You should avoid looseness in your habit. Being loose in your habit
can keep you from making success of the ability and opportunity you have. Poor
daily habit will rob you of success. You should avoid looseness in handling what
God has entrusted to you. If you are disorganized in one area of your life, this
looseness of habit will carry over into your spirit being. You should avoid
looseness in life especially towards the opposite sex. You should avoid
inappropriate behaviour towards the opposite sex.
