FAITH COMPANIONS Part 4

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:17
NIV
“So also, faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by
itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).” James 2:17 AMPC
Patience has been referred to as the twin brother of faith. “that you do not become
sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
Heb.6:12. “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of
reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might
receive the promise.” Heb.10:35-36
The scripture is clear that our faith will be tried by our adversary, the devil, who does not
want us to enjoy what God has promised us. “Knowing this, that the trying of your faith
worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and
entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:3-4. Patience can be defined as prolonged faith.
Patient is a demonstration of your confidence in God that He will do what He has
promised. A man that will walk in the promises of God must be one that has made up
his man to outlast the devil in perseverance.
When a man lacks patience, his faith will quit in the face of delay in receiving what he is
believing God for. Patience is not passive endurance. There is a time interval when you
pray and say Amen and when the answer is manifested. This interval can range from
seconds to years. Faith believes it has received what it asked God for. “Therefore, I say
to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will
have them.” Mark 11:24. During this time interval it is important that you say and do
things that corresponds with what believe you have received in faith despite what your
natural senses are feeding into your mind.
