“Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure
in him.” Heb. 10:38
Faithfulness and consistency please God because these are the attributes of God. God is always
looking for those who are faithful or wholly committed to Him. “The eyes of the LORD search
the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
What a fool you have been! From now on you will be at war.” 2Chron.16:9. NLT.
Daniel was described three times as a man greatly beloved. “At the beginning of thy
supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for
thou art greatly beloved: therefore, understand the matter, and consider the vision.” Daniel
9:23
“And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak
unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this
word unto me, I stood trembling.” Daniel 10:11
“And he said, “O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you; be strong, yes, be strong!”
So when he spoke to me I was strengthened, and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have
strengthened me.” Daniel 10:19
One of the reasons Daniel was greatly beloved to God was his consistency. As a captive
in a foreign land and at the risk of his life he refused to eat of the King’s delicacies
which was offered to idols. When a decree was enacted to throw to the lion’s den
anyone who prays to any God except to the king, Daniel was not deterred. “Now when
Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his
windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and
prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.: Daniel 6:10.
God can entrust a Christian that is consistently faithful with things that are precious. No
wonder Daniel had such great success with prayers and God granted him many
revelations that were fulfilled thousands of years after he died. In fact, many of the
prophecies in the book of Revelation relate to the visions God gave to Daniel.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith
working through love.” Gal.5:6.
Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. It is activated by our confessions. However, it
works by love.
