“Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the
heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have
been occupied therein.” Heb.13:9
Therefore, sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of
the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the seashore innumerable. These all
died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were
persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and
pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a
country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out,
they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country,
that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath
prepared for them a city.” Heb.11:12-16.
We have looked at the 4 characteristics of an established heart. Today we want to look at the
5 th traits of an established heart. An established heart speaks. It speaks in line or in sync with
what it has seen afar off and believe. A man with an established heart does not speak like the
world does because he is not of this world even though he is in this world. The people of this
world are ruled by their physical senses or sense knowledge or the wisdom of this world. But
Christian pilgrims are ruled by the Word of God or revelational knowledge. “But the natural man
does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he
know them, because they are spiritually discerned” 1COR.2;14. “That which we have seen
and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our
fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ” 1John 1:3. “We having the
same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we
also believe, and therefore speak;” 2 Cor.4:13. A believer with an established heart is a
strong on meditator on God’s Word, His promises and His track record. His heart is full
of God’s Word and out of this abundance of his heart his mouth speaks.
