“Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the
heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have
been occupied therein.” Heb.13:9
Therefore, sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of
the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the seashore innumerable. These all
died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were
persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and
pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a
country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out,
they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country,
that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath
prepared for them a city.” Heb.11:12-16.
The seventh mark of an establish heart is that an established heart is not mindful of the
difficulties on the path of the fulfilment of what God has promised him. Before anything
significant in life there will be giants. An established heart will focus on God and His promise
rather than on the giants. Focusing on the giants will weaken your faith, cause anxiety and likely
make you to quit. This was what separated the ten spies from Joshua and Caleb. The ten spies
focused on the giants and began to talk unbelief. They ultimately failed to receive what was
promised. Joshua and Caleb focused on God and the promise He made to them. As a result,
they talked faith and received what God promised. Each of them received what he said just as
Jesus said in Mark 11:23 that you will have what you say.
Abraham considered not his own body that then dead nor the deadness of Sarah’s womb
(Rom.4:19). Instead, he considered or focused on the promise and God’s faithfulness to make
good on His promise (Rom.4:21). “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on
your own understanding;” Prov.3:5. Whole heartedly trust in the Lord and leave the ‘how’
to Him.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Reason deals with facts. Faith deals with truth. Facts are subject to change while truth does not
change.
