AN ESTABLISHED HEART. Part 1

“Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the
heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have
been occupied therein.” Heb.13:9

Scripturally the heart of a man is not the physical organ. It is the central being of a man.
It can also be referred to as the spirit of a man. It is referred to as the hidden man of the
heart. “rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a
gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” 1Peter 3:4.

Faith and doubt are a heart matter. “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this
mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but
believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Mark
11:23. “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.” Rom.10:10
Since it is not possible to please God
without faith (Heb.11:6) it then means that the state of your heart is central to whether
your life pleases God or not.

God’s eyes are searching for men and women He can use and manifest His power
through them. “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to
show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have
done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.” 2Chron.16:9. His searching
eyes are looking at hearts. “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance
or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as
man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
1Sam.16:7. “I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man
according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.” Jere.17:10.

From the foregoing it is clear that the condition of your heart is very important in your
success or otherwise. Hence the instruction to guard your heart with all diligence.
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Prov.4:23 NLT.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Prayer is the greatest power God has given you and me. There is no greater that God has
given to any human being than the power of prayer, but there can be no real praying, and
you cannot know how to pray until first of all you realize that wonderful relationship you
have with God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This relationship
must begin by accepting Jesus Christ, the divine Son of God, as personal
Saviour……Kathryn Kuhlman.
