SPIRITUAL GROWTH Part 2

“Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize
the difference between right and wrong.” Heb 5:14 NLT

One characteristic of babies is that every thing that comes into their hands they put into
their mouth. It does not matter whether that thing is harmful or not. As a baby, he has
not learned to differentiate what is harmful from what is healthy to put into the mouth.
As the baby grows older, he begins to learn what is edible and what is not edible. As the
baby continues to mature, he learns that not every thing that is edible is healthy.

Similarly, as we grow up spiritually, we come to differentiate what is helpful to our
spiritual life from what is a junk or even harmful to our spiritual life. “All things are lawful
for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.:
1COR.10:23. Any thing that does not build your faith should be considered a junk that
should not consume your precious time.

Children do not know what their career goals are. Whatever career goal they have keep
changing with time but as they get older into adulthood, they become certain on what
they want to become or do in life. One of the characteristics of a matured Christian is
understanding of God ordained purpose for his life. Spiritual growth demands that he
becomes able to discern what activity and use of his time and resources are helpful in
him achieving that purpose. He tries to as much as possible to avoid things that are
unhelpful of distracting to his God ordained purpose.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK;
What you do behind the scene is more important than what you do in front of people as
far as what God wants to do in, with and through your life.
