PRACTICE GRATITUDE

“Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—” Psalm 102:2

“Count your blessings, name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has
done.” This is a popular song I am sure many of us know and sing. I wonder how many
of us practice this when we are faced with challenges especially at those times it seems
God is either far or does not seem to care.

We all pass through seasons in our lives. As long as we are in this world, we are not
immune from problems and challenges of life. This is because the devil is the god of
this world and will continue until Jesus returns to take back the lease that Adam ceded
to the devil. “We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the
control of the evil one.” 1John 5:19.

We are always tempted to magnify problems that face us and to forget the miracles
God has done for us in the past. This was the undoing of the children of Israel as they
went through the wilderness. They murmured and grumbled when they faced needs and
challenges on their journey to the promised land; They suddenly forgot what God has
wrought for them. The result was a 3-day journey became a 40 years journey. Not only
that, only two of the millions that left Egypt made it to the promised land.

Abraham learnt the secret of a grateful heart when he was faced with the problem of
bareness. Instead of murmuring and grumbling he gave glory to God. What was he
giving God glory for? I am sure he remembered how God has prospered him, delivered
him and gave him long life. ““No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly
question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was
empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God,” Romans‬

Are you facing a mountain at the moment? take sometime and meditate on the
goodness and faithfulness of God in your life. Begin to praise Him. Whenever the
enemy reminds you of the mountain, switch channel and start praising God. As you do
this, your faith will grow stronger and your victory and breakthrough will eventually
manifest.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:
When you are down to nothing, God is up to something. Stay in faith. Remain grateful to
Him for what He done in the past and what He is doing now behind the scene regarding
that situation.
