Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or
under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2Cor.9:7 NIV
God has the power to force everybody to worship and serve Him. Yet He has chosen to
give man the free will to chose to serve and worship Him or choose not to do so. When
we willingly worship God, we are motivated by true love that comes from our heart for
Him. When we willingly render service to Him from our heart, we do it cheerfully. When
we give to the Lord cheerfully, He is pleased. This will include serving Him joyfully.
“Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.” Psalm 100:2.
God looks at the heart and responds according to what He sees in the heart.
“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature,
because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the
outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1Samuel 16:7.
“I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his
ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah 17:10
““As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal
heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the
intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He
will cast you off forever.” 1Chron.28:9
When we serve the Lord with a willing heart no circumstance or storm of life will
discourage us from serving Him. “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is
written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be
slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved
us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the
present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Rom.8:35-39.
