SPIRITUAL GROWTH. Part 6

He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in
the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous
mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in
that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?
” Luke 16:10-12.

Spiritual growth demands that you know the will or purpose of God for your life. Your
level of spiritual growth is measured by the extent to which you are fulfilling the purpose
of God for your life or you are becoming who God has called you to be. Every Christian
should be a committed member of a Bible believing church. There are many reasons for
this. A Christian that is not actively committed in a church does not have a shepherd. A
sheep without a Shepherd is an easy prey of the enemy. “So, they were scattered
because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when
they were scattered.” Ezek.34:5. Such a sheep will be weary, harassed by the enemy and
helpless. In other words, he will struggle through life. “When he saw the crowds, he had
compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a
shepherd.” Matt.9:36 (NIV). He will also go astray and be confused in life. This will
manifest in errors in decision making which leads to regret and losses. “Then he said, “I
saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And the LORD
said, ‘These have no master. Let each return to his house in peace.’ ” 1Kings 22:17

Another important reason for being a committed member of a local church is that it
offers you avenues to serve God. Through serving in the local church, you will discover
God’s purpose for your life. If you already know the purpose of God for your life there is
a need to go through the required process that will ultimately take you to fulfilling that
process. Serving in the local church will enable you go through that process. If you do
not know God’s call on your life, find an area in your church where you can use your
natural ability to serve God. As you faithfully serve God in that area, in the process of
time God will reveal to you His purpose for your life.
