SPIRITUAL GROWTH. Part 2

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To
him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” 2Peter 3:18.
God instructs every believer to grow up spiritually. Lack of spiritual growth is costly to
the believer.
There are many of your inheritance in Christ that you will not be able to walk in if you are
spiritually immature. “Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his
young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even
though they actually own everything their father had.” Gal.4: 1.NLT
There are divine secrets that you cannot access because you are spiritually immature.
“of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of
hearing. For though by this time, you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach
you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and
not solid food” Heb.5:11. ““I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot
bear them now.” John 16:12. “Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you, I couldn’t
talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this
world or as though you were infants in Christ.” 1Cor.3: 1.NLT
God cannot trust you with precious things because like a child you will not understand
the value and will mess it up or it can lead to your destruction. ““Do not give what is holy
to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and
turn and tear you in pieces.” Matt.7:6
The believer that is not growing can be easily misled. “Then we will no longer be
immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new
teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they
sound like the truth.” Eph.4:14 NLT. One of the characteristics of children is
unstableness which also characterize Christians that are not growing. Such people have
difficulty receiving from God. So, they become prayer collectors or dependent on other
peoples’ prayers. “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one
who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should
not expect to receive anything from the Lord.” James 1: 6-7.NIV
The believer that is not growing spiritually lacks knowledge and exposes himself to the
attack of the devil who easily takes advantage of him or her. “My people are destroyed
for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from
being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your
children.” Hosea 4:6. “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of

his devices.” 2Cor.2:11.
