THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS Part 4

“And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who
eagerly look forward to his appearing.” 2TIM.4:8 NLT.
The second characteristic of those that are looking forward to His appearing is that they
are focused on completing what the Lord has assigned them to do. “I have fought a
good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for
me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that
day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2Tim.4:7-8
Apostle Paul was very sure that he has finished his course or his God ordained
assignment. Hence, he was looking forward to the reward the Lord will give to him at
His appearing.
God has an assignment for every person He created. The church is the body of Christ.
The body has many members or parts. Every member of the body has its unique role
that it plays for the effective functioning of the body. The same applies to the body of
Christ, His church, of which you are a member.
““For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one
body, being many, are one body: so also, is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized
into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have
been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the
foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the
body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it
therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If
the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members
every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member,
where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye
cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have
no need of you.” 1 Corinthians‬
One of the great things that can happen to you is discovering your God ordained
purpose in life. Romans 12:1-2 gives us a guide how we discover this. When you
discover your God ordained assignment make it your priority to fulfill it with every grace
He supplies you. There is nothing more satisfying in life than to know that you are in the
will of God doing what He has assigned you to do to the best of your ability and with
every resource he has given you.
““Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear
to all.” 1 Timothy‬
““Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor
device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”
““Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to
finish his work.” John‬
